Fantasy Portfolio – January 15, 2010

My portfolio this week didn’t take a hit as you may have thought since last week I had over 6% gains and only showing almost 1.5% gains. The portfolio value doesn’t take into consideration that I increased my overall position including cash in my account. I haven’t been able to actually see my cash position in the account until today, which I found very strange.
I locked in my gains with most of the stocks in my portfolio this week and completely took off Agnico-Eagle Mines (AEM). Once the price of gold comes down a little bit, I will be jumping into the GLD index fund that tracks the price of gold as a hedge against inflation.
If we get another percent or two of pullback, I’m going to start putting more of the free cash into whatever pulls back 5-8%. Apple looks to be a good candidate if it reaches $200 again, so I might jump in early next week.
