And That’s the Ugly Truth

The Ugly Truth stars Katherine Heigl as a producer of a not-so-popular
news channel who stumbles across a public access show featuring a
harsh guru of truth played by Gerard Butler. She then discovers they
are to be working together to bring up the ratings on their failing
show. When Heigl and Butler make a bet to make her neighbor fall in
love with her, Butler finds himself falling for her.
This movie started out kind of slow with jokes that weren’t terribly
funny with some cruel reality checks that were a bit outrageous, but
still worth a chuckle.
Katherine Heigl was a decent pick for her role. She has the look of
the beautiful control freak with an executive -type look.
I haven’t seen Gerard Butler in anything except for 300 and The
Phantom of the Opera, which I wasn’t even aware it was him, but I
found him to be very funny as a womanizing American. It was very
obvious that he does not have a natural American accent.
Overall, I think this is a good movie to see with your significant
other if you both want to have a few laughs about what’s on the guy’s
mind. Ladies, I’m sure your man isn’t like what it makes men out to
be … at least not all the time.
